CRE8 till L8 Crop Day

Hi Everyone,
Here in Mackay we are lucky enough to have a once - a - month crop day to go to, run by Michelle Grant Studio M Designs.
These CRE8 Till L8 crop days are awesome.  They are run from 9.00 am until you drop sometime Saturday night.  Lots of ladies meet up for loads of laughs, support and to let their creativity shine.
Michelle always runs challenges, and games with fantastic prizes.
Anyways, last weekend was the latest crop day.  I managed to finish two projects.

One was this canvas:

I set myself a challenge earlier this year to try and do more off the page work.  This was my entry into the day's challenge.

I used the most amazing paint to create the background of this piece.  It is called Pebeo Dyna Paint.  It has a beautiful iridescent shimmer.  On this canvas, I used Blue Green, Violet Blue, Yellow Green and Blue Black.  At the moment, only the Blue Black is available here in Michelle's shop.  I also used  the Dusty Attic Flower Burst Stencil to apply some absolutely gorgeous Colour Blast Colour Paste in Deep Water, Lovely Lilac, Just Blue and Snow White, which Michelle does have in stock, and has at her crop days.
I created that gorgeous seaweed in the background using a new Kaisercraft Die Cut Stencil.  I then painted it with some Dyna Paint in Yellow Green.  Love how they turned out.......

I then went from all pretty and feminine and girly to grungy and dark with this layout:

I have used one of my go - to ranges at the moment when I want to get grungy - Kaisercraft's Scrap Yard collection.  It is an awesome range to use for boys!
On the background I used some more of Colour Blast's Colour Paste - this time in Steel and Snow White.  I applied it using Dusty Attic's Squared Stencil and Distressed Grid Templates.

I used some chipboard Cogs from Dusty Attic and WOW Words or Whatever, which I painted in Dusty Attic Paint Gingernut then used Rusting Powder.
Rusting Powder is an awesome product.  It can be used to give a vintage/rusted look to backgrounds and other elements.  It's as simple to use as applying embossing glue and then wetting with vinegar!
It can be found here in Michelle's shop.

Thanks for stopping by my blog, I hope you all have an awesome weekend!

Just Chill

That's the title of my entry to the CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration Major Case File 193.

Here is the picture of the challenge:

I must admit, I found the colours scary at first - they are not the palette I am use to working with, especially the greens.  As it turned out, the layout I did was mainly green....lol.  I used Kaisercraft's Paradiso Collection - which is a few years old.

The elements I chose to use included flowers and leaves (a no brainer for me really,) bottles/jars, shells, nautical elements, frames and string.  I chose the "365 Questions" as a prompt, and answered the question "What Relaxes You?"
If you know me, you'll know it's the beach - always has been.  There is nothing I like better than going to the beach and just sitting on the sand watching the waves roll in.  It chills me like nothing else can.

Here are some close ups:

Do you like the little glass bottle of shells?  I found a large container of all different size shells - even these teeny tiny ones - at my local Party Supply Store.  I had some little glass jars that I hadn't used, so I thought I'd fill one of them with some little shells to make a cute little embellishment.

Here is another close up of a cluster - with more shells.....
Thanks for popping by my blog, hope it has given you some inspiration.....

CSI Case 192 "Once Upon A Time"

Hi folks,
Well I was really inspired by CSI case 192  this week.  I loved the colours, and the Evidence - what they want you to use - was really up my ally style wise.

Here is the picture of the challenge:

This is my entry,  I have used a Photo of my Nanna and Pa's wedding 74 years ago.  I am so lucky to have so many vintage photographs from both sides of the family - I guess that photo taking bug I have has been well and truly established in my family for many generations!

I used mainly Charcoal Grey and White, with touches of Flax Yellow, Maroon and Light Grey.
The Evidence was right up my ally style wise, so I incorporated quite a bit. You'll see a Solid Grey Background, leaves and flowers, a birdcage + bird, distressing/tearing and metal. You'll see print in my stamping and on the papers I used. My Testimony was based on the Fairy Tale prompt. I used the title "Once Upon A Time," and my journalling was about how I always thought Nanna's dress was just like a Fairy Tale dress, and even though their marriage had its difficulties, like WW2 and the Depression, they lasted 62 years, so they did have their happily ever after.....

Thank you so much for stopping by - I am hoping to become a more regular blogger again...lol...
